Writer/Director/Jovi

Carly Van Liere is an actress and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, New York with ties to the SF Bay Area, Atlanta, and Berlin. She got her BFA in Acting from University of Michigan and studied Brechtian Theatre through NYU Tisch in Berlin. The Package Thief is her directorial debut and her first screenplay. She is interested in surprises and the transportive powers of film.

Cinematographer/Editor

David Newton is a filmmaker, editor, and musician based out of Ann Arbor Michigan. Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, he grew up training to be a classical percussionist and he earned his high school diploma from University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Michigan. During his time at University of Michigan he co-founded Sly Pup Productions, a mobile Audio/Video production company, specializing in multi-camera staged productions and live music performance.

This is David’s second time working as Director of Photography on a narrative short film featuring Carly Van Liere.

Art Director/Producer

Growing up in west Michigan, Delaney Cavanagh went to the University of Michigan to study film and art. While working on many student films there, she found her passion in set dressing and production design. Delaney met Carly in Ann Arbor and immediately jumped on The Package Thief once she read the script. Currently, Delaney lives in Detroit, MI and works on TV and commercial projects in the art department.

Composer

Berman grew up in New England playing and recording music since the age of 9. After receiving bachelors degrees from Wesleyan University with honors in music and anthropology in 2004, he moved to NYC to begin a career in music. From 2005-2008 he worked in the tape library at Sterling Sound and then at digital music distribution/record label The Orchard, while constantly gigging around the city. Since joining MGMT to play drums on the road and in the studio in 2008, he’s been able to travel across the globe and share stages with many renowned musicians. Berman now splits his time between performing live with bands and taking as many opportunities as possible to expand his abilities in the studio as a player, composer, and producer.
